I’m sure you have a very long list of things that you want to do in your life, but riding the London Cable Cars or the Emirates Air Line should definitely be added if you find yourself in the United Kingdom.
It’s an unparalleled experience where you’ll get a bird’s eye view of the River Thames and some of London’s most stunning scenery.
I’ve been to London numerous times, and I rode these cable cars when they initially opened, so I wanted to experience them again on my most recent trip.
It’s all been left exactly the same, with the exception of the views, which remain breathtaking.
About the London Cable Cars
Take an aerial tour of London from Emirates Greenwich Peninsula by the O2 Arena to Emirates Royal Docks by ExCeL.
The journey is only 1 kilometre, but it’ll feel like so much more as you crest the Thames at up to 90 metres in the air.
While you’re in the air, you’ll get to see famous sites in London including the O2 Arena, Thames Barrier, St Paul’s Cathedral and the Olympic Park!
Depending on the time of day, London’s cable car cabins arrive every 30 seconds or so. The trip from Royal Docks to Greenwich Peninsula is around 10 minutes long.
You’ll be able to admire the skyline as you travel 1 km over London’s River Thames near Greenwich.
This is more than enough time for some great photo ops, but if you want to prolong your journey, I advise booking a round trip!
A VIP Fast Track experience can be booked to avoid the lines and enjoy a quiet cabin on the London cable cars.
While you do get priority boarding, you will still have to wait in line a bit while at the loading bay.
